Football Recap: Somerset Academy Losee Comes Up Short

Somerset Academy Losee extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were beaten by the Mojave Rattlers 35-7. The Lions lost against the Rattlers in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 14-10 score last time.

Somerset Academy Losee's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kieran Daniel, who rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown, and Carl 'CJ' Sparks, who rushed for 78 yards.

As for Mojave, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 28 points or more this season.

Mojave got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was RaJahn Butler out in front who rushed for 59 yards on only eight carries, and also threw for 98 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. Another big playmaker for the Rattlers was Demier Zamora, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Somerset Academy Losee and Mojave could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings. The Lions (ranked 44th) will meet Shadow Ridge (ranked seventh) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mojave will face off against Bishop Gorman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (25 vs. 1).
