Baseball Recap: East Central Triumphs

East Central put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Laurel Golden Tornadoes a 15-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Golden Tornadoes: they've now won six in a row.

Anthony Tanner was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Combs, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

East Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

East Central now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Laurel, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

East Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Tornadoes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
