Baseball Game Recap: Foley Lions vs. McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets

Foley lost against McGill-Toolen back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Foley might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-4 to McGill-Toolen, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered against the Yellowjackets since April 6, 2017.

AJ Leverette made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Foley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. The victory was the sixth in a row for McGill-Toolen, bringing their record up to 14-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foley will welcome East Lawrence at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McGill-Toolen, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Spanish Fort at 5:30 p.m.
