Softball Recap: Northside Christian Lions vs. Shekinah Christian Flames
Northside Christian was handed a 18-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Shekinah Christian Flames 12-11. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Claire Kester and Taylor Cowles did most of the damage at the plate: Kester got on base in three of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Cowles got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Cowles is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Bekah Taylor was another key player, going 1-for-2 with seven stolen bases and one run.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Shekinah Christian, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Northside Christian is set to take on their familiar foe Madison Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Shekinah Christian will face off against rival Genoa Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
