Baseball Game Preview: Illini West Chargers vs. Mendon Unity Mustangs

The Illini West Chargers will square off against the Mendon Unity Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Illini West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

While Illini West's victory against Monmouth United wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Red Storm on Monday.

Illini West got a great performance from Nick Bruns as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Bruns posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five matchups.

On the hitting side, Wesley Robertson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Mendon Unity's offense. They came up short against Quincy Notre Dame on Monday, falling 21-0. The Mustangs have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Illini West's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Mendon Unity, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
