Baseball Recap: Kankakee Comes Up Short

Kankakee extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-22. They came up short against the Coal City Coalers, falling 10-0. The Kays were not able to make up for their loss to the Coalers from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Coal City, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Coal City's part, Tyce Farrell was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Farrell's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Berger, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Kankakee will head out on the road to take on Thornton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Coal City, they will host Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
