Volleyball Recap: Phoenix Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against ALA - Anthem South two weeks ago, Phoenix Christian came back down to earth. The Cougars came up short against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks on Monday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Shamrocks: they've now lost four in a row.

Phoenix Christian took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-13, 25-15.

Leading Yuma Catholic to victory were Audrina Payan and Natalie Lawseth. Payan had seven digs and five aces, while Lawseth had five digs and three aces. That's the most digs Payan has posted over her last two matches. Abbi Olsen also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Phoenix Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Yuma Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix Christian will head out to face off against ALA - Mesa North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Yuma Catholic, they will venture away from home to take on San Pasqual Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
