Basketball Game Preview: North Forsyth Vikings vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles

The North Forsyth Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Surry Central Golden Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses dating back to last season for North Forsyth and seven for Surry Central dating back to last season.

On Wednesday, North Forsyth came up short against West Stokes and fell 65-55.

Meanwhile, Surry Central lost to Community School of Davidson on the road by a 62-48 margin on Tuesday. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

North Forsyth will have to keep a close watch on Jax Whitaker and Damen Hazelwood, a pair of players who had a big impact on Surry Central's prior game. Whitaker posted 16 points and four steals, while Hazelwood went 6-for-10 to rack up 18 points. Thanks to that strong game, Hazelwood now owns an excellent 46.9% shooting accuracy. Brayden Woodring was another key player, putting up six points.

Surry Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for North Forsyth, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-5.

North Forsyth couldn't quite get it done against Surry Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 as they fell 66-59. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
