League recap: Vancleave scores huge upset over Poplarville

4A Region 8 recap November 5, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Vancleave, who defeated 67th ranked Poplarville, 50-31. Walter Williams ran for 203 yards during the win.

St. Stanislaus added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 8 this week by beating Pass Christian, 46-9. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Rock-a-Chaws.

Tyler Allen threw for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 14-23 with 1 interception.

Williams was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 203 yards on 20 carries as the Bulldogs defeated the Pirates. Terren Crowley also contributed to the rushing game with 175 yards on the ground.

Gabe Fertitta's team's Allen and Bradley have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Allen has thrown for 3,320 yards this season, while Bradley has 71 catches for 1,388 yards. Vancleave's Crowley leads the league in rushing yards with 1,048.

The Rock-a-Chaws took down Pass Christian 46-9 last week, the largest margin of any game. Allen ran for 11 yards in the win.
