Basketball Recap: Cris Bonicillo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Creek over Lake Washington

After flying high against Tournament Opponent last Monday, North Creek came back down to earth. The North Creek Jaguars took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Washington Kangaroos on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Kangaroos are ranked 34th).

North Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cris Bonicillo, who posted 22 points and three steals. Carter Cohen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds.

North Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Lake Washington, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the North Creek Jaguars face off against the Bothell Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Washington, they will challenge Sammamish at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Washington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
