Softball Recap: Martinsville Takes a Loss

Martinsville lost against Chireno back in April of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Martinsville Pirates lost 13-3 to the Chireno Owls. The Pirates just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Rebecca Adams was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Chelby Williams also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Chireno, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.

Looking ahead, Martinsville will take on Joaquin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chireno, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Chireno Owls challenge Woden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Woden is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
