Soccer Game Preview: Toll Gate vs. Middletown

The Toll Gate Titans will square off against the Middletown Islanders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Toll Gate is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Westerly, who was ranked 19th at the time (Toll Gate was ranked 21st). The Titans had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for Toll Gate.

EMMA Mcintyre and Rylee Lima scored all three of Toll Gate's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 18 goals.

Meanwhile, Middletown kept a clean sheet against North Smithfield on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Northmen 1-0. The victory continues a trend for Middletown in their matchups with North Smithfield: they've now won four in a row.

The win got Toll Gate back to even at 6-6-3. As for Middletown, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3-2.

Toll Gate was able to grind out a solid win over Middletown in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Islanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
