Recap: Avant Garde Academy Sharks vs. LaSalle Royal Lions
This season hasn't been kind to the Avant Garde Academy Sharks, who are still winless after their eighth match. They were beaten by LaSalle 69-14 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Avant Garde Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while LaSalle is ranked 301st).
LaSalle's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melissa Carrasco, who scored 20 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Barrabes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Avant Garde Academy's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for LaSalle, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avant Garde Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Berean Christian at 4:00 p.m. on January 16th. Berean Christian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for LaSalle, they will be playing at home against Don Soffer Aventura at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
