Football Game Preview: Metuchen Bulldogs vs. North Plainfield Canucks

The Metuchen Bulldogs will face off against the North Plainfield Canucks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Metuchen has three straight victories, North Plainfield has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Metuchen gave up the first points last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They took down Brearley 27-9.

Cameron Hayes-Durina was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 78 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 89 yards and one TD. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Matthew Jelleme, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, North Plainfield fell victim to Johnson and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Crusaders and fell 36-0.

North Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Metuchen, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
