Basketball Recap: Cole Hanggi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wayland-Cohocton over Red Jacket

Wayland-Cohocton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Red Jacket. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 47-23 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.

Wayland-Cohocton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cole Hanggi, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Alex Fedorchuk, who earned ten points.

Red Jacket's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ander Zepkowski, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Brown, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 16 points and three blocks.

Wayland-Cohocton's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Red Jacket, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Wayland-Cohocton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-43 victory against North Rose-Wolcott on the 28th. As for Red Jacket, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-45 win against Clyde-Savannah on the 28th.
