Softball Recap: Kalama Drops Highest Score of Season Against Columbia

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kalama). They blew past the Columbia Bruins 24-18 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Chinooks needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Colbie Manninen was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Ada Schlangen was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Kalama's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-5. As for Columbia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kalama is set to square off against their familiar foe Stevenson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Columbia will take on rival La Center at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
