Baseball Recap: St. Maries Comes Up Short

St. Maries was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-6 to the Kellogg Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-6 loss on Tuesday.

William Durham was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for St. Maries: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kris Brusseau, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI.

St. Maries' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Kellogg, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Maries will challenge Orofino at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kellogg, they will face off against Priest River at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
