Basketball Recap: Effingham County Comes Up Short

Effingham County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakeside Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-27 last Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Effingham County lost, don't look at Kyjana Jordan. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points. Abbi Jones was another key player, putting up eight points.

Lakeside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kobi Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Barnes has scored at least a third of Lakeside's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Graybill, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Effingham County's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Lakeside, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Effingham County has already played their next contest, a 42-35 defeat against Lakeside on the 28th. As for Lakeside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-60 loss against Greenbrier on the 24th.
