Softball Game Preview: Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle vs. Burroughs Burros

The Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle will square off against the Burroughs Burros at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Academy of Careers & Exploration got the win against Victor Valley by a conclusive 20-6.

Izabella Sanchez made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (two). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison Shockley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Bethany White was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Academy of Careers & Exploration was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .676. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, while Burroughs put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Barstow. Burroughs was the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over Barstow. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Burros.

Burroughs' win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.

Academy of Careers & Exploration might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Burroughs in their previous meeting back in March of 2024.
