Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Raiders vs. Grayson County Cougars

Trinity is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Grayson County a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Trinity Raiders will welcome the Grayson County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Trinity has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Trinity lost 13-1 to Owensboro Catholic on Saturday.

Trinity saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Howard, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grayson County). Everything went their way against Hopkins County Central on Friday as they made off with a 17-7 victory. The Cougars not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024.

Cameron Fulkerson and Jake Bratcher did most of the damage at the plate: Fulkerson scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4, while Bratcher went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Bratcher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gage Napier, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Grayson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Grayson County, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trinity has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Grayson County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Trinity suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Grayson County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
