Softball Recap: North Putnam Wins Going Away Against Parke Heritage

North Putnam was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Parke Heritage on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Wolves. The Cougars have beaten the Wolves the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolves has come to flipping the script.

Camryn Riggle made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Riggle was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tori Detro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Hailey Strother was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

North Putnam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parke Heritage only posted an OBP of .286.

North Putnam's record is now 5-1. As for Parke Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coming up, North Putnam will take on Cloverdale in a tournament on Saturday. The Cougars are facing the Clovers at the right time seeing as the Clovers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Parke Heritage, they will face off against Covington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
