Basketball Recap: Gretna Comes Up Short

If Gretna was riding high fresh off their 64-42 takedown of Duchesne on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gretna Dragons received a blow on Friday as they fell 56-37 to the Gretna East Griffins. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Griffins are ranked 23rd).

Despite the defeat, Gretna saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ava Mcartor posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Armitage, who put up seven points.

Gretna's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Gretna East, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

When Gretna and Gretna East next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Gretna will try to stop Norris' three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Gretna East will take on Waverly and their nine-game winning streak at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
