Football Recap: Gateway Comes Up Short

Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 23-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plum Mustangs. The Gators gained 58 more yards on the day, but it was the Mustangs that made the best use of them.

Although Gateway took the loss, they still got scores from Jakson Smith and Shawn Moorefield Jr.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Plum to victory, but perhaps none more so than John Nonnenberg, who threw for 228 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Cj Hart helped Nonnenberg out on the ground, rushing for 53 yards and one score.

Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Plum, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Gateway and Plum will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Gators will square off against rival Kiski Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Plum is set to challenge their familiar foe Shaler Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
