Basketball Recap: Komarion Callahan Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat El Paso

It was a proper cat-fight when Hillcrest duked it out withEl Paso on Friday. The Hillcrest Panthers put the hurt on the El Paso Tigers with a sharp 65-41 win.

Hillcrest got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Komarion Callahan out in front who went 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Callahan is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Jordan Johnson was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Hillcrest was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Paso only racked up four assists.

El Paso lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Edward Bunn, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points. That's the most points Bunn has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Moreno, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Hillcrest's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for El Paso, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Hillcrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-49 victory against Lubbock on the 27th. As for El Paso, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-39 defeat against Lubbock Christian on the 27th.
