Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Lane Tech's 13th in Last 14 Outings

Lane Tech had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They beat the Maine West Warriors on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Champions, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ronan Owens looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lane Tech got a big performance out of Tyler Trapp, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Trapp has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Henry Murray, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Lane Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Lane Tech is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Maine West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-23 record this season.
