Softball Recap: Taylorville Gets the Win

Taylorville's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the MacArthur Generals. The victory continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won four in a row.

Hope Kietzman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kietzman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Livia Havera was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kyleigh Heimsness, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Taylorville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for MacArthur, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taylorville will challenge Mt. Zion at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for MacArthur, they will square off against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.27 runs per game on average), something the Generals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
