Football Recap: Mccomb Piles Up the Points Against Lawrence County

McComb's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Lawrence County Cougars, posting a 42-7 victory. Considering the Tigers have won five games by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

McComb found their leader in sophomore Tramarion Davis, who threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 40 yards. Another player making a difference was Broderick Peters, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

McComb was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Lawrence County still got an impressive performance from Devon McDuffey, who rushed for 111 yards and one score.

McComb's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Lawrence County, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

McComb will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Pike at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Lawrence County, they will head out on the road to square off against Poplarville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
