Football Recap: Mccomb Skates Past Lawrence County with Ease

It was a proper cat-fight when McComb challenged Lawrence County on Friday. The Tigers claimed a resounding 42-7 win over the Cougars. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.

McComb found their leader in sophomore Tramarion Davis, who threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 40 yards. Broderick Peters also helped out with an impressive 94 receiving yards.

McComb was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

McComb's defense made their presence known, laying out Shundale Arnold three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Hackett, Jace Jackson, and Trey Ellis, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Lawrence County's side was Hackett, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Lawrence County lost, don't look at Devon McDuffey. Despite the final result, he rushed for 111 yards and one TD.

McComb's record is now 7-1. As for Lawrence County, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
