Softball Recap: Cape Fear Christian Academy Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

It's playoff time, and Cape Fear Christian Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Ridgecroft Rams 7-1 on Wednesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Glenna Mclamb was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Mclamb wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Dupree, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kristina Kennedy was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Cape Fear Christian Academy's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgecroft, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Cape Fear Christian Academy nor Ridgecroft have any future games scheduled.
