Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield Cardinals vs. Perth Amboy Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals challenge the Panthers on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Plainfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Jersey's top teams: Elizabeth, who was ranked seventh at the time (Plainfield was ranked third). Plainfield came out on top against Elizabeth by a score of 69-61 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Perth Amboy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 53-45 victory over the Bulldogs.

Perth Amboy pushed their record up to 15-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Plainfield, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.

Everything came up roses for Plainfield against Perth Amboy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 85-39 win. Will Plainfield repeat their success, or does Perth Amboy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
