Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Caleb Gaudet and Max Salvador Lead Southwick Regional to Victory

If John J. Duggan Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Southwick Regional, they should've done a better job of containing Phong Tran. The Rams blew past John J. Duggan Academy 3-0 on Thursday with plenty of help from Tran, who had 25 assists and seven aces. He is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Southwick Regional was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-11, 25-12.

Southwick Regional was led to victory by Max Salvador and Caleb Gaudet. Salvador had six digs and two aces, while Gaudet had five digs and one assist. That's the most aces Salvador has posted since back in May of 2024.

They weren't the only good server: Southwick Regional was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Southwick Regional now has a winning record of 2-1. As for John J. Duggan Academy, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Southwick Regional will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Sabis International at 5:15 p.m. As for John J. Duggan Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Athol at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
