Volleyball Recap: Marion Victorious + How To Watch

It was a proper cat-fight when Marion duked it out with Herrin on Thursday. The Wildcats won by a set and slipped past the Tigers 2-1. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Marion had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-20.

Marion can attribute much of their success to Jacie Havens, who had 13 digs and two assists. Those 13 digs gave Havens a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Herrin still got an impressive performance from Kylie Wagoner-Smith, who had 16 digs and two aces.

Marion's victory bumped their record up to 15-16. As for Herrin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-24 record this season.

Marion wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Waterloo on the 28th. As for Herrin, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Murphysboro on the 28th.
