Football Recap: University City Takes a Loss + How To Watch

University City fell victim to Lincoln and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 56-0 defeat at the hands of the Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Hornets are ranked eighth).

Even if they lost, University City's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Anthony Cabrera was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Lincoln's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kainan Manna, who threw for 139 yards and three TDs on only six passes. Junior Curtis handled things on the ground, rushing for 107 yards and a rushing touchdown.

University City's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lincoln, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

University City and Lincoln will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Centurions are set to face off against their familiar foe Scripps Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lincoln will challenge rival Cathedral Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
