Austin Barbieri leads a balanced attack to beat Washington-Liberty

Recap: Yorktown Patriots vs. Washington-Liberty Generals

After losing to the Washington-Liberty Generals the last time they met, the Yorktown Patriots decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Yorktown sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-49 win over Washington-Liberty on Monday.

Yorktown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Austin Barbieri led the charge by scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Tyler Bardach was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Yorktown now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Washington-Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

Yorktown will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Herndon at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Yorktown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday. As for Washington-Liberty, they will head out on the road to challenge McLean at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Washington-Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 212th, while McLean is ranked 61st).
