Recap: East Butler Tigers vs. Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 23 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact the East Butler Tigers proved on Friday. They secured a 49-43 W over Lyons-Decatur Northeast. The win made it back-to-back wins for East Butler.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Butler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Dewitt, who scored 14 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lillie Kriz, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast's loss came despite strong showings from Tavyanna Parker and Lexus Petersen. Parker dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Petersen scored eight points. Parker is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
East Butler's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
East Butler will take on Shelby-Rising City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Butler is facing Shelby-Rising City at the right time seeing as Shelby-Rising City is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Lyons-Decatur Northeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
