Holy Cross and Assumption are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Cougars will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Holy Cross took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Fairdale 15-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Breelyn Willett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Willett was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Holy Cross got a massive performance out of Alyssa Priddy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Priddy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Fries, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Assumption got the win against Cooper on Wednesday by a conclusive 16-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.
Like Holy Cross, Assumption also got a great game from a two-way player: Lauren Satterly. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Satterly has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lauren Campisano was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Ashley Jones was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Assumption always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Assumption pushed their record up to 22-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Cross, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-10 record.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Holy Cross hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Assumption struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
