Baseball Recap: Jefferson Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

While Jefferson put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Pendleton County. The Cougars put the hurt on the Wildcat with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Cougars have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Alex Danner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Hefner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Liam Healey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Jefferson, bringing their record up to 25-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Pendleton County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pendleton County, they will welcome East Hardy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Cougars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
