The Tushka Tigers will face off against the Talihina Golden Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Tushka focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday.
Tushka fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Antlers but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 54-51. Tushka's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Tushka might have lost, but man, Tagen Simon was a machine: he scored 29 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That was a full 56.9% of Tushka's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaxson Gregory was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Talihina can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Wilburton by a score of 51-41.
Talihina's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ramses Hernandez led the charge by scoring 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Griffith, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Tushka's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-13. As for Talihina, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Tushka have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Talihina struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
