Softball Recap: Lago Vista Sets Scoring Season-High Against Vela

Lago Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 13-9 to the Vela Sabercats. One positive for the Vikings, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Sabrina Phillips and Audrey Ferguson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Phillips scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Ferguson scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Ferguson a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Ellie Helton, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Lago Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lago Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Vela, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

Coming up, Lago Vista will venture away from home to square off against Pflugerville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vela, they will be taking part in a tournament against Sotomayor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
