            Boerne had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They strolled past the Veterans Memorial Patriots with  points to spare, taking the game  45-27. Given the Greyhounds' advantage  in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Patriots are ranked 695th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Boerne's  win came down to the chemistry between  Grant Sweeney and his top target  Zachry Fraiser. Sweeney threw for 336 yards and six  touchdowns while  Fraiser picked up 184 receiving yards and three  scores. With that strong performance,  Fraiser is now averaging an impressive 103.1  receiving yards per game.
 On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Boerne's defense and their five sacks. Veterans Memorial's QB  won't forget  Cash Gatlin anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Gatlin has been hot, having also posted six or more  total tackles the last six times he's  played.
Boerne's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Veterans Memorial,  they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-6.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Boerne will  face off against  rival McCollum  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. That  contest will pit two of the most dominant  signal callers against one another:  Sweeney and  Jordan Casares. Meanwhile, Veterans Memorial is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Harlandale  at 7:00  p.m.  on  the 31st.
