Basketball Game Preview: Chicago Marshall Commandos vs. Lake View Wildcats

Two dominant guards in Janiyah Green and Jada Marrero are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Chicago Marshall Commandos will be home for the holidays to greet the Lake View Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chicago Marshall will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Chicago Marshall is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Chicago Mathematics & Science: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Chicago Marshall blew Chicago Mathematics & Science out of the water with a 59-11 final score. The Commandos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.

Chicago Marshall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charmarre Scott led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Green was another key player, going 6 of 13 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Chicago Marshall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 34 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lake View challenged Chicago Academy on Friday. Lake View secured a 38-34 W over Chicago Academy.

Chicago Marshall better keep an eye on Marrero. She was instrumental in Lake View's win, putting up 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mina Dominguez, who posted eight points.

Chicago Marshall's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Lake View, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
