Basketball Recap: Henry Hawkins Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Vallejo

The matchup between Miramonte and Vallejo on Thursday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Miramonte Matadors walked away with a 57-48 victory over the Vallejo Redhawks. The Matadors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Redhawks, too.

Miramonte's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Henry Hawkins led the charge by going 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Bossutt-Ugarte, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Miramonte is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Vallejo, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
