Volleyball Recap: Chardon Finds Home Court Redemption Against Independence

There's no place like home for Chardon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Independence Blue Devils on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2. For the Hilltoppers, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Blue Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Chardon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 18-25, 25-15, 27-25, 15-6.

Ian Galati had a dynamite game, getting 36 digs, 29 kills, three aces, and one block. Those 29 kills gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Laux, who had 15 digs and nine kills.

Chardon's record now sits at 2-5. As for Independence, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Chardon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Mentor on the 26th. As for Independence, they will face off against North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
