Volleyball Recap: Rockingham County Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Carver last Thursday, Rockingham County came back down to earth. The Cougars came up short against the McMichael Phoenix on Thursday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Phoenix this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Rockingham County was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into McMichael's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-17, 25-19.

Kylie Stocum paced Rockingham County's offense, picking up five kills. Stocum got some help from Aydan Cable and her six assists. Maddie Joyce controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

McMichael's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carrington Vaughn, who had four digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Smith, who had six digs and two aces.

Rockingham County's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. As for McMichael, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-9.

Rockingham County has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Morehead on the 7th. As for McMichael, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Grimsley on the 8th.
