Basketball Recap: Pelham Memorial Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Pelham Memorial couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 54-36 bruising from the Ardsley Panthers on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Pelicans in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.

Iva Corluka continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ardsley, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 16 boards. Corluka is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Leah Burriss was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight boards.

Pelham Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Ardsley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Pelham Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ardsley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 76-40 victory against Marlboro Central on the 11th.
