Softball Recap: Del Oro Takes Down Davis Sr. in a Playoff Battle

Del Oro had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Davis Sr. Blue Devils with a sharp 8-1 win on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Golden Eagles as they're now sitting on 16 straight.

Del Oro got a great performance from Mikayla Finn as she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). Finn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abby Davidson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Champas, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Del Oro hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive matches.

Del Oro's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-1. As for Davis Sr., they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14-2 record this season.

Del Oro will face off against Sheldon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Eagles 1.5, the Huskies 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Davis Sr. does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
