Soccer Game Preview: Fullerton vs. Valencia

The Fullerton Indians will square off against the Valencia Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Fullerton's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Fullerton is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Godinez Fundamental last Friday. Fullerton fell just short of Godinez Fundamental by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 856th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 114th).

Meanwhile, Valencia kept a clean sheet against Tustin on Friday. Everything went their way against the Tillers as they made off with a 3-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won eight matches by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Valencia is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those ten contests. As for Fullerton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Fullerton came up short against Valencia when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 4-2. Can Fullerton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
