There's no place like home for Summit Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the American Leadership Academy Eagles on Friday. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 5-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cooper Derbidge spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits.

At the plate, Summit Academy's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Trace Gedicks, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Sawyer Morgan was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Summit Academy's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for American Leadership Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Summit Academy and Logan will meet on Thursday for a tough Bear Battle. The Bears are facing the Grizzlies at the right time seeing as the Grizzlies are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for American Leadership Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Morgan at 3:30 p.m. on the 7th.
