Basketball Recap: Rio Hondo Prep Takes a Loss

After flying high against SEED: LA last Wednesday, Rio Hondo Prep came back down to earth. The Rio Hondo Prep Kares lost to the Providence Pioneers at home by a 69-52 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Kares can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1066th, while the Pioneers are ranked 491st).

When it comes to explaining why Rio Hondo Prep lost, don't look at Tyler Dang. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 12 en route to 13 points and six assists. That's the most points Dang has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Har, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points.

Rio Hondo Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Providence, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Rio Hondo Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-48 victory against Duarte on the 18th. Providence has also already played their next match, a 64-52 loss against Price on the 18th.
