Softball Recap: North Augusta Drops Highest Score of Season Against Brookland-Cayce

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Augusta). They blew past the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats 17-1 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won five in a row.

Avery Rushing looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ayla Holmes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savannah Allen, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.

North Augusta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got North Augusta back to even at 4-4. As for Brookland-Cayce, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
